The DMK  is the party which was founded by arringar anna on 17 th september on 1949

The History of DMK is the history of rational and reformist movement in Tamil Nadu. It is the history of Tamil renaissance it is the compilation of the continuous struggle and concrete efforts taken by a political organisation to preserve the identity of a civilisation par excellence.

DMK contested the 1957 General Elections and won 15 seats in State Assembly, the prominent winners being Dr. Anna, Dr. Kalaignar and Professor Anbazhagan, and two seats in lokshaba

The party and its influence increased day by day in 1959 Madras Corporation Election, the DMK became the single largest party winning 45 seats out of 100 Mr. A.P. Arasu became the first DMK Mayor of Madras (now Chennai)

The election commission recognised the party and its election symbol the rising Sun 

 Hindi imperialism raised its ugly head. In 1938 when compulsory Hindi was introduced in schools in Tamilnadu ( formally called Madras Presidency ) people from all sects – scholars, religious heads and non-political leaders joined the agitation led by Periyar

Frontline leaders like Dr. Anna, K.A.P. Viswanatham, Elathu Adigal, Maraimalai Adigal and more than 1200 volunteers wrer arrested.and then peopele voted for dmk oted DMK to power in the 1967 assembly election.

The DMK won 138 seats to the state assembly and captured all the 25 Lok Sabhas seats it contested, Dr. Anna became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu in 1967

after comming to power Dr. Anna passed away on 3rd Feb 1968.

after that dr.Dr. Kalaignar [karunanadthi] become the cm of tamilnadu and  he won the election in 1971,1989 ,1996,2006 and he was in the fifth term as cm
